A refundable security deposit between CLP 600.000 and CLP 1.000.000 is required, depending on the vehicle category, the insurance option selected, and any additional services included. The deposit is released or refunded within 7 to 30 business days after the vehicle is returned, subject to applicable deductions, unless otherwise stated in the rental contract.

The following may be deducted from the security deposit: highway toll charges (TAG) plus a 10% service fee, traffic fines, vehicle damage attributable to the renter, accident liability (up to 15 UF + VAT per event, unless the contract states otherwise), missing-fuel charges, extraordinary cleaning charges, and late-return charges.

The deposit refund is initiated within 7 to 30 business days after the vehicle is returned and post-rental charges (TAG tolls, fines, fuel, damage, cleaning, etc.) are verified. Once we issue the release, the time funds reach you depends on your bank or card processor's processing times. A different timeframe may apply if expressly stated in the rental contract.

A grace period of one (1) hour may be granted at Rent Car Chile's sole discretion. Beyond that period, an extra-hour rate or one full additional day will be charged, depending on the duration of the delay, calculated at the standard daily rate of the rented vehicle without any promotional discounts. Application of the grace period does not waive this right. A different rule may apply if expressly stated in the rental contract.

The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level recorded at delivery. If returned with less fuel, the renter is charged for the missing fuel, the refueling service, and related administrative costs; the typical total surcharge ranges from CLP 45.000 to CLP 165.000, depending on the missing volume. No refund is provided if the vehicle is returned with more fuel than originally delivered.

If the vehicle is returned excessively dirty or in a condition requiring extraordinary cleaning, a cleaning charge applies. The amount is determined according to the vehicle's condition, with a minimum of CLP 30.000 and up to CLP 400.000 when chemical or specialized cleaning is required.

The vehicle must be used lawfully, in compliance with Chilean traffic laws, and only by drivers authorized in the rental contract. The following are strictly prohibited: subleasing, lending or transferring the vehicle to unauthorized third parties; commercial passenger transport, rideshare or delivery services; participation in races or illegal activities; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and off-road or unsuitable-terrain use without prior written authorization. Breach of these conditions voids any applicable coverage and may result in immediate contract termination without refund. Full conditions are detailed in the Terms & Conditions.

Cross-border travel is not included in the standard rental and requires a specific cross-border permit purchased as an additional paid service before the rental start date. The permit must be requested, confirmed in writing, and paid before vehicle delivery. Travel outside Chilean territory without a valid permit constitutes a material breach of the contract, immediately voids all insurance coverage, and makes the renter fully liable for all resulting damages, fines, and legal costs.

The rental contract includes the insurance coverages specified therein. Third-party civil liability is included as required by Chilean law. For damage, collision, rollover, and theft, the renter is responsible for the applicable franquicia (deductible) under the contract; the maximum charge per accident event is 15 UF + VAT, unless the rental contract states otherwise. Coverage may be denied for invalid or false documentation, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, allowing an unauthorized driver to operate the vehicle, or any breach of the rental agreement or the insurer's terms; in such cases the renter is fully liable for all resulting damages and costs. The following items are not covered by insurance and are charged in full to the renter at return: windshield, glass and locks; mirrors; loss of or damage to keys; tires and rims.

Yes. Rent Car Chile reserves the right to terminate the agreement early in case of breach of contract, non-payment, or misuse of the vehicle. Legal action may be taken to recover the vehicle when necessary.

No refund is issued for unused days. Early return does not automatically generate a refund unless Rent Car Chile expressly confirms it in writing. For monthly or promotional reservations, the applicable rate may be recalculated based on the actual rental duration at the standard rates in force for that period, which may exceed the originally booked rate.

A charge of 0,3 UF applies for each payment made beyond the agreed date, in addition to any other amount owed under the rental contract.

A valid driver's license and a valid national ID or passport are required. The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years at the time of delivery; drivers between 21 and 24 years of age may be subject to additional conditions (higher security deposit or vehicle-category restrictions). Renters with less than 2 years of driving experience may have their request denied at Rent Car Chile's sole discretion.

To prepare the rental contract (a separate step from booking confirmation) we require: a valid passport or national ID, and a driver's license valid for use in Chile. These documents must be presented in original form at vehicle delivery.

Yes. We offer alternative payment options for clients without a credit card. International tourists can rent under specific arrangements designed for short-term visitors, and Chilean residents can rent without a credit card subject to additional documentation requested at the time of inquiry. A reservation is confirmed only once Rent Car Chile acknowledges it in writing by WhatsApp or email (vehicle, dates, pickup or delivery option, and price). Only reservations that are fully or partially paid guarantee the selected vehicle; unpaid requests remain subject to availability.
